No Treat
The day before Halloween was certainly no treat to investors as the Dow tumbled 249.85, its worst single-day point loss since April.
The Dow close was its 10th triple-digit movement in October. Five of them were down and five up, reflecting the extreme volatility of the market as investors try to get a handle on whether the 48% surge in the Dow since March can be justified by economic fundamentals.
The Nasdaq also broke its seven-month winning streak falling 3.64% for the month.
For the week, the NYSE tumbled 4.63% while the NASDAQ soldoff 5.08%.
Since March 23, 2009, when the NLX NYSE turned Bullish, the NYSE has gained 29.96%.
Since October 28, 2009, when the NLX NASDAQ turned Bearish, the NASDAQ has declined .70%.
NLX NYSE -46
NLX NASDAQ -188
