Manhattan Miracle

A US Airways jet splashed down in the Hudson River on Thursday afternoon, and its pilot was hailed as a hero. Captain Chesley Sullenberger is being credited with guiding the plane into the near-freezing waters off Manhattan after it lost both engines. The Airbus A320 had 155 people on board, and all escaped serious injury.

However, nearby on Wall Street, moderate gains at the end of the week weren't enough to put the major stock indexes back into the black for the week. In fact, the markets were badly battered for the week, as investor sentiment keeps eroding in the face of bleak economic and financial news.

For the week, the NYSE ended down -5.54% while the NASDAQ retreated -2.69%.

Since 6/6/08, when the NLX NYSE turned Bearish, the NYSE has sank -41.14%.

Since 1/14/08, when the NLX NASDAQ turned Bearish, the NASDAQ has gained 2.66%.
